SANGAREDDYHYDERABAD: With a section of Congress workers questioning the authority of Medak legislator and an associate member of the party P. Sasidhar Reddy, the party's Medak town unit is currently engaged in internal fights. The trouble started when ex-municipal counsellors K. Surender Goud and Godala Kistaiah, who were not invited by the party for the Nagara Bheri programme, criticised the legislator's claim on the multifaceted development of Medak municipality. They went on record saying that Sasidhar Reddy is misleading people by taking credit for the work done with MP funds and he had actually won the election on a Janata Party ticket.
Third front
The breakaway leaders of Congress also announced that soon a third front would be floated by uniting disgruntled leaders from the TDP and TRS to fight municipal elections against the Congress party. Refuting the allegations, the Medak Town Congress president Madhusudhan Rao, secretary Ashok and few farmer counsellors organised a press conference on Monday and said that the party workers would work in tandem with Mr. Reddy during the municipal elections.
Compensation sought
SANGAREDDYHYDERABAD: Following the ban on 15-year-old goods vehicles, the Transporters and Truck Operators Federation sought compensation for the value of their vehicles or get them exchanged with new vehicles. In a press release, the Federation general secretary Syed Nazeer said that the ban had resulted in 10 lakh people losing their livelihood. He said several persons got their old vehicles registered in the Regional Transport Office a day before the ban was enforced. "Most of them mortgaged their valuables to get the vehicles registered. Had the authorities indicated in advance about the ban, at least we would have been prepared," he said. He said that if the authorities cannot compensate them properly, the ban orders be taken back.
