10 computers stolen from ZP school

CUDDAPAH: Burglars broke into the ZP Boys High School in Badvel town and stole ten computers and their accessories, worth about Rs. 2 lakhs, in the early hours of Monday.

Alliance Air flights timings revised

VISAKHAPATNAM: There will be changes in the timings of Alliance Air flights in the Mumbai-Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad sector in either direction from August 5 to 30.

According to the revised timings, the CD 7561 will leave Mumbai at 8 a.m. and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 9.45 a.m. while CD 7572 from Visakhapatnam will leave at 10.15 a.m. and reach Hyderabad at 11.15 a.m.

The CD 7571 will leave Hyderabad at 11.45 a.m. and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 12.45 p.m. while CD 7562 will leave Visakhapatnam at 1.15 p.m. and reach Mumbai at 3 p.m., according to Indian Airlines Area Marketing Manager T.V. Rao.

Flights cancelled

The Alliance Air flights CD 7572 and CD 7571 from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad and from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam along with CD 7561 and CD 7562 from Mumbai to Visakhapatnam and Visakhapatnam, scheduled for Tuesday, are cancelled due to operational reasons. - Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Five leaders of the Andhra Pradesh committee of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will participate in the World Youth and Students Festival from August 7 to 15 at Caracas in Venuzuela. Prisoner escapes from open-air jail

ANANTAPUR: A life convict, who was undergoing imprisonment in the Open Air jail at Reddypalli near here, Karianna, escaped from the jail on Friday night, after he had an altercation with the jail staff.

The officials of the open air jail lodged a formal complaint with the Bukkaraya Samudram police station on Sunday night, as they lost hopes on Karianna's return to the jail. The matter came to the light only after the jail staff lodged a complaint. - Staff Reporter

Marriage of Basivin performed

KURNOOL: Activists of Andhra Pradesh Dalit Samakhya performed the marriage of 22-year-old Basivin, Laxmi, at Gajjahalli village in Holagunda mandal of Kurnool district on Monday.

Girl dies in house collapse

Nellore: A 16-year old girl died on the spot and four others sustained injuries when the portico of a house suddenly collapsed in Betaniyapet area of Bogole mandal, on Sunday. The tragedy occurred when everybody was busy with a function. - Staff Reporter

Prawn farmer ends life

Kakinada: A prawn farmer Penumatsa Mohan Satya Prasada Murthy (35) of Illaparru village of West Godavari district, who is managing the prawn culture tanks in Cheyyeru village of Katrenikona Mandal, has allegedly committed suicide by consuming a pesticide at the farm house on the wee hours of Monday. Chronic liver ailment is stated to be the reason for the extreme step. - Corrrespondent

Online banking at Andhra bank

NALGONDA: Andhra Bank will switch over to Internet banking in the next three months, according to the bank's deputy general manager P. Srinivas.

Farmers take out rally

ADILABAD: Some 100 farmers from Tamsi mandal took out a rally under the banner of Akhila Paksha Rythu Sangham on Monday demanding enhanced compensation for lands to be acquired under the Mattadivagu medium irrigation project, which is coming up on river Mattadivagu near Waddadi village in the mandal. They demanded a compensation of Rs. 3 lakhs per acre for the 1,200 acres of land to be acquired. Shouting slogans, they marched to the district Collectorate and submitted a memorandum to the Collector R. Subba Rao. - Staff Reporter

Sangareddy: The Medak district Collector B. Venkatesam has asked the medical and health officers to prevent the outbreak of diseases like diarrhoea and malaria by taking timely measures. According to a press release here on Monday, the Collector organised a meeting after a videoconference with the in-charge Minister of Health and the chief secretary.
