MANGALORE: With the monsoon active after a month-long lull, hopes of good kharif have been revived. Agricultural activities picked up on Monday. Most of July, farmers did not take to the fields in many parts of the district as the monsoon played truant. But according to official sources, during the rainfall for the second half of the month was above normal. Farmers in the higher altitude areas, who were dejected at the prospects of lifting water for irrigating their lands, are hopeful of good crop. Anand Shetty, a progressive farmer of Vamadapadavu, said the groundwater level has gone up.
