MANGALORE: It is important for Bunt community youth to establish themselves based on individual achievements. The days when one could rely on one's family name and other considerations is long gone and no longer possible in an competitive era, said retired Indian Air Force officer, Group Captain, Dinesh Chandra Bhandary, here on Sunday. Inaugurating the 90th open session of the Bantara Yane Nadavara Math Sangha, Mr. Bhandary said the youth of the community, while retaining a sense of pride and nostalgia about their family background, should work hard and persevere to attain success. He said the Bunt community has an illustrious past and it is imperative that all members of the community live up to this reputation. He said that the community has always exhibited the fortitude of rising above petty caste considerations. Such qualities are necessary in a society with inequalities, he added. The sangha honoured 12 members of the community for their contribution in various fields. Ten senior members of the community were honoured in a traditional manner. K. Ajith Kumar Rai, president of the sangha and Nitte Shashidhar Shetty, were present.
