CHENNAI:
It was an attempt at promoting a scientific outlook among young minds. Bindeshwar Pathak, social worker and founder of the Sulabh Sanitation Movement, urged students to apply scientific knowledge in their daily life.
"It is not enough to have scientific knowledge but it must be applied in our day-to-day life and it must be applied for the eradication of poverty, ill health and lack of sanitation," he told students who had gathered at the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre on July 21.
Mr. Pathak explained how he developed Sulabh system, which would not require manual handling of night soil, after watching the plight of scavengers.
