Medical colleges association plea
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
: The All-India Medical and Engineering Colleges Association (AIMECA) has challenged the rejection of its plea to conduct common entrance test for medical and paramedical courses in the State for the current academic year.
The permanent committee rejected the AIMECA plea on July 22, and instead authorised the Tamil Nadu Private Professional Colleges Association (Health Sciences) to conduct the CET as it did last year.
In his petition, the Association president T.D. Naidu said the Permanent Committee for the Conduct of Common Entrance Test "wrongly" rejected the AIMECA's plea to conduct the CET and added that it was not correct to say that it had not substantiated its membership claims. A list of 76 colleges had been furnished to the committee, which did not put the AIMECA on notice about its doubts on the documents, he said.
Justice P.D. Dinakaran had ordered notices to the permanent committee and the Consortium of Professional Arts and Sciences Colleges in Tamil Nadu on writ petitions filed by the AIMECA.
