CBI prosecutors get an office

CHENNAI:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) prosecutors in the Madras High Court got an office of their own on the court premises on Monday.
The CBI Joint Director (South), R.N. Sawani, inaugurating the chamber, said the agency, which enjoyed a high degree of confidence among the public and the judiciary, was being entrusted with the investigation of many a complicated case by the judiciary. Conceding that a large number of vacancies did exist in the agency, Mr. Sawani said the Centre was taking steps to fill them up in time.
N. Chandrasekaran, Special Public Prosecutor for CBI cases pending in High Court, thanked the Registry for allotting a separate chamber for prosecutors.
Among those who participated were the Additional Solicitor-General of South India, V.T. Gopalan, the Advocate-General, N.R. Chandran, the State Public Prosecutor, K. Duraisamy, the Additional Advocate-General, Bader Sayeed, the former Public Prosecutor, I. Subramaniam, and the Deputy Inspectors-General of the CBI, A.K. Viswanathan and Mr. N.R.K. Reddy.
