Tribute to Mohammed Rafi

Songs of Mohammed Rafi continue to be a rage in Kozhikode even 25 years after his demise. Music contests and programmes were organised by a host of organisations to mark the 25th death anniversary of the noted singer last week. Each of the programmes was a crowd-puller.

A painter, Baiju Raj, came up with a series of paintings on Photoshop-6 -based on Rafi's immortal song, O duniya ke rakhwale. He has been invited to exhibit his paintings in Kochi and Dubai. When Baiju went to take photocopy of the brochure on his painting exhibition on Rafi, the owner of the shop read it before he took the copies. But when Baiju asked him how much he has to pay, the owner was upset. "If you can do a painting as a tribute to Rafi saab, allow me to make this small gesture to express my admiration for him," he said.
