Letters to the Editor
The article "Do we really need 24x7 rolling news?" (July 30) provides an insight into the ills and futility of round-the-clock news telecast. In their quest for breaking news, most 24-hour news channels give ethics the go-by. What is distressing is the apparent immunity they enjoy. It seems they are not even obliged to broadcast an apology, whereas it is a time-honoured media practice to regret mistakes. The news worthiness of the story is lost if the 24x7 world waits to check facts before airing sensationalism! The casualty is accuracy.
