THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A new bridge is to be constructed in the place of the Venduruthy Bridge in Kochi. A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, which took the decision here on Tuesday, authorised the Public Works Department (PWD) to finalise the design and other technical details of the bridge within three months. The estimated cost of Rs. 30 crore of the new bridge will be shared by the Government, the Port Trust and the Indian Navy. The meeting took a decision to that effect. The new bridge will come up to the right of the existing bridge. There will be no toll for the new bridge. The meeting was attended by Public Works Minister M.K. Muneer, Fisheries Minister Dominic Presentation, Industries Minister V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, the legislators K.V. Thomas and K. Babu, PWD Secretary Lida Jacob, Chief Engineer Joseph Mathew, and others.
