Ties reinforced, says Seychelles President

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Seychelles President James Alix Michel on Tuesday said that he was "more positive than ever that India and Seychelles would get closer together in every field possible."

Sounding upbeat on India-Seychelles relations, at the end of his three-day visit to India, he said that his visit further reinforced the ties of friendship and cooperation.

"I am very happy because India and Seychelles have been long-standing friends. We have, since Independence, established diplomatic relations and collaborated in many areas," he said. India had played a major role in developing and training the police and security forces, armed forces and Coast Guard of the country.

During his day-long stay in Chennai, the President visited the NIIT, the Madras Medical Mission Hospital (MMM), the MIOT and had dinner with Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala before leaving for Singapore on Tuesday night.
