CHENNAI: After the MCC Club it is the turn of Cosmopolitan Club to invite the top players the 2003 IBSF World snooker champion Pankaj Advani, former World billiards champion Geet Sethi and 2004 Asian champion Alok Kumar and Busan Asian Games gold medallist Rafath Habib for its Rs. 1.55 lakh Aircel-Cosmopolitan Club snooker tournament, to be held at the Club premises here from August 4 to 9. Briefing pressmen, R. Gandhi, president, Cosmopolitan Club, said that the tournament would offer a rich fare and that the Club was happy to host such a big tournament. The winner would receive Rs. 60,000 and the runner-up Rs. 35,000, according to K. Gajapathy, the club's secretary. M.K. Harinayaranan, joint secretary, a snooker player himself, said that apart from the top stars, the National players such as Manan Chandra, Aditya Mehta, Dharmendar Lilly, Devendra Joshi and Sarang Shroff will participate. The local stalwarts such as Prem Prakash, S.A. Saleem, Antim Singhi and Siddharth Rao would also figure in the competition, which would be played on league-cum-knock-out basis. Mr. N. Murali, Joint Managing Director, The Hindu, will inaugurate the tournament. The groupings: Group A: Alok Kumar, Dharmender Lilly, Antim Singhi, Raju Bhathija. Group B: Devendra Joshi, Rafath Habib, Geet Sethi, M.K. Harinarayanan. Group C: Pankaj Advani, Sarang Shroff, Siddharth Rao, M.C. Manoj. Group D: Aditya Mehta, Manan Chandra, S.A. Saleem, Prem Prakash.
