A friend in need for the differently abled

A HELPING HAND: `Auto Raja' with the specially crafted tricycles he donated to differently abled persons in Bangalore.

ACTS OF kindness are what make this topsy-turvy world habitable. Being kind and thoughtful to strangers who need help, is also becoming something rare.

Making an exception to the indifference cultivated by many in our city is a man simply called "Auto Raja," though he stopped driving one year ago. Picking up waifs, vagrants and the abandoned — from infants to the elderly — is what he now does, with a little help from organisations and the wealthy. He has now taken up the task of providing mobility and a sense of independence to the needy differently abled. Last week, he donated specially crafted tricycles to six differently abled persons at Banaswadi in the presence of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Krishnarajapuram, R. Lakshman. The police apparently helped Raja identify the deserving recipients.
