VIJAYAWADA: State secretary of the Dalit Bahujan Front (DBF), Melam Bhagya Rao, said here on Wednesday that a national summit was being conducted under the auspices of National Campaign for Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR) on August 8 and 9 with an objective of creating reservation facility in the private sector. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Rao said that over 1,000 delgates working in the 150 Dalit organisations and movements across the country would participate in the conference which would be inaugurated by the former President, K.R.Narayanan. The United Progressive Alliance chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, the convener of the Union Cabinet Sub-Committee on reservations in private sector, Sharad Pawar, its members, Ramvilas Paswan, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Miera Kumar, Mayawati (BSP), Ramdas Athawale (RPI), D. Raja (CPI), Prakash Karat (CPI(M)) and floor leaders of different political parties in Parliament would also participate in the summit. Dalit leaders from the State Bojja Tarakam, N. Paul Diwakar and Korivi Vinay Kumar, along with 150 other delegates, would also participate in it. Delhi declaration would be released with the essence of the summit. He hoped that the summit would help create reservations for oppressed classes in the private sector which was being given a big boost by governments.
