RSP to take out march to CTO

Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA: The Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) Alappuzha district committee will take out a march to the Central Telegraph Office (CTO) in Alappuzha on August 9 in protest against "the economic policies and labour laws of the Union and State governments," RSP district secretary P.D. Karthikeyan said at a press conferenece here on Wednesday. RSP State secretary T.J. Chandrachoodan will inaugurate the march and the dharna.

Mr. Karthikeyan said the Union Government was working against the interests of the country by indiscriminately hiking the price of petroleum products and privatising public sector companies. The State Government was also pursuing a policy of helping big private sector companies, as was evident in the move to allow a private sector group to mine mineral sand from the coastline of the district, he said. The RSP leader accused the State Government of adopting a repressive policy towards agitations by students and workers. He demanded that the policemen who had allegedly beaten workers of the Revolutionary Youth Front (RYF) be suspended from service.
