VIJAYAWADA: Students drawn from nearly 20 colleges across the State would participate in centenary celebrations of Albert Einstein's revolutionary publications, organised by the Physics Association of Maris Stella College, Vijayawada. The year 2005 has been declared as International Year of Physics in commemoration of Einstein. The three-day celebrations would include a symposium on "impact of physics on life and society" on Wednesday, talks, seminars, an exhibition and a rally on the concluding day. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the principal, Sr. Thresiamma, said the objective was to help the students experience the pain of preparation, gain of experience, a sense of satisfaction and ultimately, enhancement of their confidence level. The symposium was being conducted under the guidance of Y. Prabhakar Reddy, who worked in the physics department of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati and R. Ramakrishna Reddy, head of the physics department in Sri Krishna Devaraya University, Anantapur. Students from Stella would share their views on topics like: physics and future, physics and natural calamities, physics and communications, physics and health, physics and sports, physics and space exploration, physics and information technology, physics and religion and physics and environmental concern. While the exhibition would ignite the young minds, the rally marking the culmination of the three-day event would create public awareness, she said. The city Police Commissioner, Umesh Sharraf, would give away prizes on Friday.
