Groups set up to analyse issues
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
The State Government has set up groups, comprising government officers, experts and academics, to analyse issues and problems concerning six broad areas, as part of the "Tamil Nadu Equitable Growth Initiative."
Employment generation, private sector development, public expenditure and poverty reduction, improved service delivery, agricultural productivity enhancement and human development are the six critical development objectives identified by the Government.
For every area, there are two or three groups. Each group has a task leader from the State Government and representatives of industry and other stakeholders. Besides, the World Bank has nominated one or two persons to every group.
"Over the next 9-12 months, the core groups will deliberate on the problems and work out possible solutions for consideration and adoption by the Government," said Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
