ISI network busted
Special Correspondent
GUWAHATI:
The Intelligence Bureau and the Assam Police say they have busted a network of ISI operatives, who were allegedly passing on highly classified defence documents to officials of the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi.
This follows the arrest of a retired Indian Air Force sergeant Md. Hanif from a hotel here along with three others on July 10. The police said Md. Hanif had allegedly procured these documents through his son, Md. Javed, a Lance Naik of the Army's 4 Corps, who was posted at the headquarters in Tezpur.
Eleven persons, including the father-son duo, have been arrested from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and brought here for interrogation. Two women from Faridabad, Haryana, who acted as couriers, were also held. The documents contained information on Army operations, recruitment and deployment.
