THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: First Additional Sub-Judge S. Shajahan has dismissed a petition submitted by businessman Biju Ramesan, staking claim to 24 cents of `poramboke' land near the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in 1996. The court also rejected a petition by Mr. Ramesan seeking Rs.1 lakh as compensation from the Government for the demolition of a boundary wall constructed around the land. The land, originally belonging to the royal family of erstwhile Travancore, was stated to have been purchased by the petitioner from the custody of a private party, Reginamary D'cruz. The petitioner later constructed a boundary wall around the land and started other construction activities inside the compound after obtaining consent from the Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority. However, the structures were removed by the RDO with the assistance of the police in 1996.
