TIRUMALA: The nine-day annual brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala, will commence on October 4 with ankurarpanam the day before. The mega festival, which has a traditional start with the performance of "dwajarohanam" (hoisting of the temple flag) on October 4, will conclude with the "chakrasanam" on October 12. The other important days during the festival include the "Garuda Seva" on October 8, the procession of the golden chariot on October 9 besides "Rathotsavam" on the penultimate day. The TTD has cancelled all the weekly sevas such as vishesha pooja, astadala padapadamaradhana seva, sahasra kalasabhishekam, thiruppavada and daily sevas like kalyanotsavam, unjal seva, vasanthotsavam during the festival period.
