NEW DELHI: Deepan Chakkravarthy was left wondering where he went wrong after the seasoned Kerala campaigner O. T. Anil Kumar employed unorthodox opening and shut out the second seed in the third round of the Parvsnath National `B' chess championship on Thursday. On a day when heavy rains and newly-installed coolers brought little relief to a field of 294 players reeling in humid conditions at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra, 21 players maintained perfect scores to form the leaders' pack.
Twelve-year-old Parimarjan Negi overpowered the experienced Indian Bank campaigner K. Hariharan, a qualifier in 2003. World under-12 champion N. Srinath defeated Negi's former coach G. B. Joshi in the second round before going down to GM-norm holder Somak Palit.
