BRIDGETOWN: Dumped batsmen Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan fired their lawyer for suggesting they were unhappy with the West Indies Players' Association's handling of the contract dispute with the national board. Gayle and Sarwan, axed from West Indies' current tour of Sri Lanka after siding with WIPA, released a statement on Tuesday saying they dismissed their attorney Sanjeev Datadin. "We have never given any instructions to say or suggest that we will break or have broken away from, disapproved of or had any complaint about WIPA or its handling of any matter," the pair said. "We have been made aware and have been involved in the decision-making by WIPA on our behalf and other players throughout." Datadin released a statement last week indicating his clients were distancing themselves from the players' union. AP
