BANGALORE: A 70-km. car rally where a visually challenged navigator guides the driver will be flagged off from Bangalore Central and conclude at Nandi Hills. The Servo Car Rally for the Blind 2005 will be held on Aug 7 to commemorate Friendship Day. The event, in its second edition, will be jointly sponsored by Servo, Indian Oil, in association with, Bangalore Central and Tata Indicom. To add to the excitement, participants in the rally and their family members can compete in a Treasure Hunt. Last year's winner Sanjay Padhye and navigator Ms. Lakshmi from National Association for the Blind, Karnataka, will once again be in the starting line-up. Those interested in participating should bring their own vehicles. Entries will be received at the National Association for the Blind, Ph: 55374555 or 55374666.
Karnataka team triumphs
Special Olympics Karnataka football team claimed gold in the National football championships held at Kolkata from July 27 to 30. The team led by T.K. Kalpanath defeated Madhya Pradesh 2-0 and Andhra Pradesh 3-1, lifted the title. Fourteen states participated in the championships, held every four years. The other members of the Karnataka team in this five a side tournament played at the Salt Lake stadium were B.K. Deepak, Ponanna, K.T. Girish, D. Murugan, N. Kumaresh, K.P. Chetan, and N. Girish.
