Lavalin deal: `CPI(M) has nothing to fear'

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The convener of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), Paloli Mohammed Kutty, has said that neither the CPI(M) nor its State secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, had anything to fear about the investigation into the SNC Lavalin deal.

Briefing reporters after the LDF State committee meeting here on Thursday, Mr. Kutty said the matter was discussed by the CPI(M) State secretariat.

He said the then Chief Minister, E. K. Nayanar, and Power Minister Pinarayi Vijayan left for Canada only after getting the related proposals cleared by both the party secretariat and the LDF State leadership.

He challenged the Government to prove the charge that corruption involving crores of rupees had taken place in connection with the deal.
