HYDERABAD: An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raid on the houses of a driver working with the Prohibition and Excise Department in Nellore on Wednesday opened a can full of worms with the accused, Shaik Kalesha, turning out to have disproportionate assets worth a whopping Rs. 70 lakhs. The raids on the houses of Kalesha and his sons helped the ACB sleuths unearth details of house sites at various places in Nellore worth Rs. 28 lakhs, a two-storied building and a bar & restaurant, both in Nellore and each worth Rs. 10 lakhs, a Scorpio jeep, a Maxi Cab car, a Tata Indica, two motorbikes and a scooter, a shop at Autonagar in Nellore, liquor bottles worth Rs. 60,000, promissory notes worth Rs. 42,000, household articles and ornaments worth Rs. 4 lakhs apart from Rs. 2 lakhs. The driver was arrested , according to an ACB release.
Excise official arrested
The ACB also arrested an Excise Superintendent in Guntur district, Venigandla Subba Rao, on Wednesday after disproportionate assets worth Rs.35 lakhs were unearthed. In simultaneous raids on Mr. Rao's possessions in different districts, the bureau came across a building at Arundalpet in Guntur, one flat at Whitehouse in Karimnagar, one apartment at Yaganti Castle Towers in Guntur, agricultural lands at various places, house sites at Gollapalem in Prakasam district and Nallapadu in Guntur, an Ambassador car, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 1.70 lakhs and household articles worth Rs. 3 lakhs.
