FAIZABAD: The four militants, arrested in Jammu and Kashmir for their involvement in the attack on the Ram Janambhoomi Complex in Ayodhya, were remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a local court on Thursday. The four Asif Iqbal, Mohd. Aziz, Mohd. Nasim and Shaqeel Ahmed were produced amid tight security in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate T.K. Tripathi, who remanded them to judicial custody for a fortnight and sent them to Faizabad jail. Senior prosecution officer Om Shiv Jaiswal said there were enough evidences to prove that the accused had plotted the attack and needed to be taken into judicial custody. A huge crowd, which had gathered in the court premises, raised slogans against the militants when the police brought them in a special vehicle. The four militants, who were nabbed in Jammu and Kashmir on July 14 and July 27 in connection, were brought here on Wednesday evening. They have been slapped with charges pertaining to anti-national activities, riot and possession of illegal arms and criminal conspiracy leading to murder, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The Special Task force had on July 22 arrested a Saharanpur-based doctor, Irfan Khan, in connection with the attack. He has also been remanded to judicial custody till August 6 and is lodged in the Faizabad jail.
