Five cyclone shelters for Nellore district

HYDERABAD: Five cyclone shelter-cum-health centres will be built in Nellore district under the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).

They will come up at Kolanakuduru, Gangapatnam, Ramatheertham, Thaticherla Palem and Govindapalli at a cost of Rs. 1 crores.

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, P.Lakshmi, has sanctioned Rs. 50 lakhs for the work from her MPLADS fund. The balance will be met from HUDCO grant. According to a press release issued by the Minister here on Thursday, the ground floor of the proposed buildings would be used as health centres while the first floor as cyclone shelters during natural calamities.

Ministers' visit

Mrs. Lakshmi and the Union Minister of State for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation, Selja, will lay the foundation for the centres at Manubolu, Alluru, Kodavaluru, unveil a plaque at Indira Bhavan Nellore, Kodavaluru and Gudur, on August 6.
