Tiger task force chief briefs Minister
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Sunita Narain, Chairperson of the Tiger task force, on Thursday briefed the Union Environment and Forest Minister, A.Raja, and the Environment Secretary Prodipto Ghosh, ahead of the presentation of the report to the Prime Minister.
The task force is expected to submit its report to Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, on Friday or Saturday. Set up in May this year following the disappearance of tigers from the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, the five-member task force had been constituted by Dr. Singh to review the forest management in the country with specific reference to Tiger Reserves. The report was to be submitted within three months.
According to well-placed sources, there is a difference of opinion over the recommendations made in the task force report.
