Chief Minister promises land for hostel in Gulbarga

GULBARGA: The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, has promised to sanction 10 acres of land in the city to Basaveshwara Prasad Nilaya for constructing a building to run a school-cum-hostel for poor students in the region. B.H. Purantagi, convener of the nilaya, said in a press release here on Wednesday that the Chief Minister gave this assurance to a delegation of the nilaya, which met him in Bangalore recently.

Dr. Purantagi said the president of Basava Samiti, Arvind Jatti, has promised to provide Rs. 5 lakhs for the construction of the building and other activities of the nilaya. Chandrasekhar Patil Revoor, Sharanaprakash Patil, Vaijnath Patil, M.Y. Patil, Sharanabasappa Dharshanapur and Prakash Khandre, legislators, have also promised funds to construct rooms in the hostel, he added.

The construction of the hostel will go a long way in helping students to pursue higher education in Gulbarga University.
