NEW DELHI: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has constituted a committee of experts headed by Prof. Namwar Singh to prepare new language textbooks for schools. The books will be ready by this coming October, the NCERT said in a statement on Thursday. An attempt to redefine the study and teaching of languages, around 90 experts from different parts of the country, including language experts, educationists and teachers are part of the committee. The main objective of the committee would be to develop language in a planned manner and prepare textbooks that are easy and interesting. The committee's challenge lies in preparing textbooks that reflect and strengthen the multicultural, multi-language character of India.
