Plan to recruit noon meal workers

TIRUCHI: The district administration has announced that applications for vacancies in noon meal centres could be forwarded to panchayat union, municipal and corporation offices.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the Collector, K. Nanda Kishore, said that recruitments would be made to the posts of organiser, cook and helper. The number of vacancies were: organiser - 9 in panchayat unions and one in corporation limits, cook - 71 in panchayat union and five in corporation limits, and helper - 19 in panchayat unions, two in Corporation limits and two in Thuraiyur Municipality.

The application format for the post of organiser has been put up on the notice boards of panchayat union officers concerned. He advised the applicants to furnish their particulars in that format and submit the same with the respective panchayat offices, municipality and the corporation.

For the post of organiser, the eligibility norms were: applicants should be women, who should have studied up to SSLC (either pass or fail but with a pass in Tamil and Tirukkural), and in the age group of 25 to 40 years (widows, destitutes and physically disabled would be preferred). They must reside within three km from the noon-meal centre where they apply for posting and must have knowledge of accounting the daily and monthly transactions.

Likewise, only women could apply for the two other posts - cook and helper. Applications should be made as per the above-mentioned procedure.

Eligibility norms: applicants should be literate and in the age group of 25 to 40 years. They should be physically fit and reside within 3 km from the noon meal centre where they apply for posting. The applications should be submitted before August 15. The district administration will obtain the list of eligible persons for the posts from the district employment exchange.
