Mass contact programme

TIRUCHI: Collector K. Nanda Kishore disbursed cheques to the tune of Rs. 2.92 crores towards scholarship for Adi Dravida students of colleges and schools at the mass contact programme held here recently.

He also handed over cheques to the tune of Rs. three lakhs for disbursement of scholarships to BC, MBC and Denotified tribe students during the current year. In all, 3,053 students would benefit, a release issued here on Thursday said.

He sanctioned a monthly assistance of Rs.200 to a physically challenged woman after relaxing norms on age.

Under the Collector's Discretionary Funds of the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation, four women and two physically-challenged persons received Rs.10,000 each for taking up self-employment activities. He presented a gunny-sewing machine worth Rs. 3,700 sanctioned from out of the District Welfare Fund, to a physically disabled person. — Staff Reporter

Talent search for

IAS aspirants

CHENNAI: Scholar's League, a civil services coaching centre, has announced an open talent search test for civil service aspirants. It will be conducted in Tiruchi on August 6.

Those selected would be trained in General Studies, History, Public Administration and Sociology.

Apart from a one-hour test on General Studies, aspirants would need to take a psychometric counselling, to be followed by counselling and an interview.

Tiruchi: The water level in the Mettur dam stood at 105.41 feet on Thursday. The inflow was 1,22,214 cusecs and the discharge, 900 cusecs. — Staff Reporter
