Clarification

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: In a news item published in these columns on Thursday, it was erroneously mentioned that the City Police Commissioner, V. Dinesh Reddy, was among electricity bill defaulters whose names are listed on the CPDCL website. It is clarified that it is not Mr. Reddy, but some offices of the Police Department that are listed on the website under the designation `The Commissioner of Police'.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Commissioner's office said the mention of the `Commissioner of Police' appears as defaulter on seven occasions on the CPDCL list. This is wrong since five of these arrears do not actually pertain to the CP, Hyderabad. Further, there are some discrepancies in the amounts shown as due to the CPDCL by the City Police. The CPDCL, when asked to furnish detailed bills to clarify these, had failed to do so till date, the statement said.

The CPDCL has been advised to make the correction in their records and on their website, the statement added.
