Unsafe place for animals

It is supposed to provide a safe sanctuary for those imported from the wild to the concrete jungle. But Nehru Zoological Park has over the years proved to be short of being the same.

How insecure the sprawling park has turned for the animals housed here was proved by the insensitive killing and skinning of the tigress Sakhi right in its lair a few years ago. How porous the security is at the park was proved by the fact that smugglers could easily sneak in to chop the sandalwood there.

The recent episode in which a contract worker of the zoo was arrested with a tiger skin and tusks has only ended up nudging the zoo further into bad light. The hide was stolen right from the zoo premises. Leave alone animals, are their remains too unsafe here?
