`Farmers need not be Rythu Mitra members to get loans'

Agriculture Commissioner asks bankers to extend loans to all farmers


  • Special drive from August 15-31to check sale of spurious seed, fertilizers
  • Officials told to tour villages to help farmers
  • District administration plans to disburse Rs. 406 crores loans this year

    CUDDAPAH: The Commissioner for Agriculture Poonam Malakondaiah on Thursday urged bankers to extend loans to all the farmers irrespective of whether they are members of the Rythu Mitra clubs or not.

    Addressing agriculture officials and bankers at a meeting here, she urged the agriculture officials to inspect fertilizer shops and detect sale of spurious seed and pesticides as part of a special drive from August 15 to 31. Officials were asked to lodge complaints against shopkeepers selling seed, fertilizers and pesticides contravening guidelines. She asked farmers to purchase fertilizers from authorised dealers.
