Tricksters held

The Hyderabad Police Task Force officials on Thursday reportedly rounded up four men on the charge of claiming to be policemen and extorting money from couples. P. Satish and K. Srinivas of Gourishnakarnagar; G.P. Venkatesh of Shaukatnagar; and Jnaneswar of Ibrahimnagar were accused of targeting couples at parks. The quartet used to question the couples, collect gold and cash and leave the place.

Boy drowned

A nine-year-old boy Raghava got drowned in Fox Sagar after stepping into it for a swim on Thursday. A third standard student, the victim was a resident of Ramreddynagar near Jeedimetla Industrial Area. He went to the lake for swimming after school and drowned, the local police said.

Firearm seized

The Hyderabad Police Task Force (Central) team on Thursday arrested K. Venkatesh, 45, and seized two country-made firearms from his possession. A resident of Ramreddynagar in Jeedimetla, the accused was a stonecutter, a press release said. He was picked up at Karkhana in Secunderabad while moving under suspicious circumstances.

Jewellery stolen

Two impostors pretended to be policemen relieved a housewife of her jewellery after diverting her attention near Jubilee Bus Stand in Secunderabad on Wednesday. M. Radha of Maktha in Khairatabad was walking on the road near the bus station when the two men approached her.

They warned her against wearing jewellery saying an offence took place in the area recently. When she removed the ornaments weighing four tolas, they packed them in a paper and returned the packet to her. On reaching the bus station, she opened the packet only to find stones inside

Property recovered

The Railway Protection Force team on Wednesday arrested a person Md. Taj and recovered stolen property worth Rs. 8,050 and a mobile phone from his possession while on escort duty on train no. 7686 Bangalore-Kacheguda Express, a press release said.
