YSR praises Centre for Good Governance

HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, appreciated the performance and functioning of the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) at its annual general body meeting held in his Secretariat chambers on Thursday.

Dr. Reddy, who chaired the meeting, was informed by CGG Director-General, P.K. Mohanty, that other States were seeking its assistance for setting up their own such centres. The Department of International Development (DFID) too had regarded it as an international benchmark for governance reforms, a press release said.

Dr. P.K. Mohanty outlining the key achievements of CGG highlighted the various packages developed including the file, petition monitoring systems for the Chief Minister, financial accountability assessment, training manuals, inter-state study on decentralisation, transparency legislation, etc.

The Ministers — K. Jana Reddy (Home) and J. Geeta Reddy (Tourism) — the Chief Secretary, Mohan Kanda, and senior officials were present.
