P. Janardhan Reddy
HYDERABAD: The former CLP leader P. Janardhan Reddy has said that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhara Rao's remarks to build a militant movement (Telangana Jagarana Sena) were against the spirit of the Constitution, more so because he is a Central Minister. Reacting sharply to the announcement, Mr. Reddy said at a press conference here on Thursday that such remarks from a responsible Minister are highly objectionable. "What does Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao intend to achieve by forming a one-lakh strong force, which will be trained by 30 retired police officials," he asked.
`Wrong signals'
Mr. Reddy demanded that Mr. Rao spell out his plans on Telangana Jagarana Sena. "Will the new movement be on the lines of LTTE, JKLF, Al Qaida, Taliban or Ranveer Sena of Bihar," he asked. Such utterances will send wrong signals to the people of Telangana, who love peace. He said the utterances were on the lines of statements issued by the Maoists. Mr. Reddy reminded Mr. Rao about his assurance to the AICC general secretary, Digvijay Singh, that he would abide by the party president, Sonia Gandhi's word on Telangana. He wondered what prompted the TRS chief to go back on his promise. The senior Congress leader opined that Mr. Rao should wait till Ms. Gandhi announced a decision. He said he would write to the AICC president explaining the TRS leader's conduct. "I am going to meet Mr. Digvijay Singh, who is touring the State," he added.
Appeal to President
Mahabubnagar correspondent adds: Telugu Desam Party leader in the Assembly Nagam Janardhan Reddy appealed to the President to dismiss Union Ministers - K. Chandrasekhar Rao and A. Narendra - from the Union Cabinet for launching a militant group in their party. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that both the Union Ministers had used provocative language which was against to the democratic system.
