Lok Ayukta directs issue of notices to KSRTC officials

Special Correspondent

To show cause why they should not be declared unfit to hold their posts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lok Ayukta K. Sreedharan has directed the issue of notices to the KSRTC Executive Director (administration), Chief Accounts Officer and Managing Director asking them to show cause why they should not be declared unfit to hold their posts.

The order was issued on the basis of a complaint filed by S. Raveendran, a resident of Puthenkulam in Paravur, Kollam district. The Lok Ayukta and Upa Lok Ayukta N. Krishnan Nair noted in their order that the administration of the KSRTC was in doldrums.

Orders issued by the forum to the corporation were not bringing any result, they said. The standing counsels of the corporation deserved pity as they were not being given any instruction by the Corporation to make an effective representation when cases were called.

Only in cases wherein the personal appearance of the Executive Director (Administration) and the Chief Accounts Officer was ordered, did the corporation take steps to comply with the forum's directions, the judges said. The situation had become so bad that the forum was compelled to declare the officials as unfit to hold their posts. The case has been posted for its next hearing on September 20.
