Youth hacked to death

Body kept in the Medical College mortuary

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 22-year-old youth was hacked to death by unidentified persons at Chitravila, near Cheruvakkal, on Thursday night. He was identified as Baburaj, son of Velukkutty, a resident of Cheruvakkal, near Sreekaryam. The body has been kept in the Medical College mortuary.

Accident

An autorickshaw driver was killed when a motorbike rammed into his vehicle near the fuel station at Vembayam on Thursday morning.

Karim (60), of Vembayam, Kanyakulangara, was thrown out of the autorickshaw in the impact of the hit and was killed instantly. The autorickshaw had been negotiating a U-turn when the bike rammed into it. The body has been kept in the MCH mortuary.

Clashes

A 30-year-old man was injured when two groups of autorickshaw drivers owing allegiance to the DYFI and AIYF clashed at Pazhaya Road in Medical College police station limits on Thursday.

The police identified the injured person as Subash. The police registered a case of simple assault against three persons, identified as Rajendran, Bahuleyan and Santosh, in connection with the incident. Subash has been admitted to the Medical College hospital. An official said that a dispute between auto rickshaw drivers regarding Maldivian clients had resulted in the violence.

Found dead

A 33-year-old man was found dead in a hotel room in Thampanoor police station limits on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Wilson Thomas of Mundakkayam. The police suspect the man to have committed suicide by consuming poison.

Burglary attempt

Unidentified persons attempted to burgle three houses in Gowreesapattom on Wednesday night. The Medical College police have registered a case and efforts were on to arrest the accused.
