KOCHI: The Minister for Works, Malaysia, S. Samyvellu, who discussed business matters with a delegation from the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed interest to invest in Kerala, according to Chamber president C.P. Jain. The delegation led by Mr. Jain visited Malaysia on a Government invitation from July 29 to August 2. The Malaysian Minister informed the delegation that though his Government had various project proposals in the State, it had not materialised so far due to political reasons. The Minister said he would visit the State in October to finalise projects. He also offered to visit the Chamber. The delegation pointed out that a tie-up for the promotion of tourism would boost this sector in both the countries. The Minister suggested that there was great scope for investment in tourism infrastructure. The delegation informed the Minister about the proposed exhibition of chamber in Kochi, for which the Malaysian Government offered its patronage . They also met High Commissioner of India R.L. Narayan and discussed matters relating to the improvement of business relationship with Malaysian and Indian businessmen. They pointed out the facilities available in Kerala for IT and Tourism industry and sought his patronage for investment in these areas. He told them that there was ample scope for development of business in Malaysia, especially in seafood, meat and spices. The Commissioner also offered his whole-hearted patronage for successful conduct of the Exhibition to be held by the chamber in December.
