MYSORE: A two-day workshop on "National consensus on prevention, identification and management of hearing impairment" will be held here from Friday. The workshop is being organised by the Department of Audiology, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH).
Consensus
The objective is to work towards a national consensus on the above issues for implementation throughout the country. The AIISH Director, Jayaram, said in a press release that it is hoped that with the help of a host of professionals carrying out such a national programme will be possible. The heads of various national institutes, commissioners of various departments and district health officers have been invited to debate on the issue. Dr. Jayaram said there are several institutes which are implementing activities related to prevention, identification and management of hearing impairment using their own models.
Model
He said there is a need for a national model and the workshop is an exercise in that direction. Sudha Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), will be the chief guest. The workshop will be held at the AIISH Gymkhana, Manasagangotri.
