ADILABAD: A Senior Assistant in Panchayat Raj working now at Asifabad, 38-year-old Ramesh Chandra Kulkarni registered in his name an entry into the Limca Book of Records in its 2005 edition. His feat of floating on water in a horizontal position without any external support for over 24 hours fetched him a national record. Mr. Kulkarni, a native of Jannaram in Adilabad district, had performed the feat at the Indira Priyadarshini stadium swimming pool on June 28 and 29, 2004. He had kept himself afloat between 9 a.m. on June 28 to 9.20 a.m. the next day. The recordholder was congratulated by the Panchayat Raj Ministerial Employees Association's Narender Reddy, the Adilabad unit president and secretary of Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Union, N. Ananth Rao and K. Satyanarayana. At a press conference, they said it was a matter of pride for all the Government employees in the district. Answering questions, Mr. Kulkarni said his love for swimming made him perform the feat. There was deep relation between `Pranayam' of yoga and keeping afloat on water, he said. The clue lay in breath control, he pointed out. He is aiming at the Guinness record, he added.
