Two-day puppet show from August 18

Sudhish Kamath

CHENNAI: If you've had enough of computers, technology, gizmos and television, here's something refreshingly alive — a puppet show.

Be entertained by puppets on strings, rods, hands and shadows.

Parade of Puppets, is an hour-long unique show put together by professionals at the Guild of Service, Egmore, on August 18 (continuous shows from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and 19 (continuous shows from 9.30 a.m.)

"Each session of one hour will charm children and adults with endearing characters, lively songs, enthralling stories, sets, music and choreography," says Prema Daniel, organiser of the event.

"Puppets work so well because they are multi-sensory. It's not just an audio-visual medium but also caters to the need to touch and feel. They come alive before your eyes and even the most sceptical start believing in them," she explains the rationale behind the show.

Tickets are priced at Rs.20. Call 98411 34587 for details.
