`Vivaha-2005' exhibition

Life insurance policy

NEW DELHI: India's leading private telecommunication company Bharti Tele-Ventures has taken a group life insurance policy for an assured sum of Rs.930crores for all its employees. The insurance, taken from Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), comes into effect from this August.

More than 8,600 Bharti employees have their lives insured under this scheme. The minimum sum assured under the policy is Rs. 10 lakhs. The company said the group insurance policy was an effort at having excellent people practices and talent management for the benefit of the employees.

CPI (ML) meet

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Delhi State Committee will hold its two-day seventh State Conference from this Saturday.

The conference is being held against the backdrop of privatisation of public goods and services like water, electricity, transport and sanitation. It will also discuss the issue of growing atrocities on women in the Capital.

On the eve of the session CPI (ML) Delhi State secretary Rajendra Pratholi charged the Sheila Dikshit Government with turning it back on lakhs of unorganised sector workers who were forced to live in inhuman conditions.

Survey of `dhobi ghats'

NEW DELHI: Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia has directed the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Department of the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to undertake a detailed survey of the existing 57 "dhobi ghats" in order to improve them.

The Minister reviewed the present status of dhobi ghats maintained by MCD at a meeting attended by top officials of the civic body and the SC/ST Department.

It was announced that an amount of Rs. 3 crores had been approved in 10th Plan for their development.
