VIZIANAGARAM: With a view to improving quality of life of people in villages, Rotary Club of Vizianagaram has decided to work at the grass-root level in coordination with Government departments. To build a strategic partnership between Government agencies and Rotary on common programmes for rural development, Rotary Club is organising a meeting at Mahila Pranganam here on Sunday, according to the meet leader and past district governor R.K. Jain. He told a press conference on Friday that 30 Rotary Clubs in north coastal districts, which were invited to share open platform, would adopt at least a village each for addressing problems such as protected water supply, health care and unemployment.
Medicare
As primary health centres had not been able to meet the requirement of rural people, Rotary Club with the help of Indian Medical Association would conduct health programmes and wanted the Government to supply medicines to the poor, he said. In Vizianagaram district, the club had identified 26 children with heart ailment and got them operated free of cost. The club also decided to empower women and youth in the rural areas and asked DRDA/Velugu to impart them training.
