Burma repatriates' plea
Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM:
The Burma Repatriate Unemployed Association has sent a letter to the President seeking the issue of a special G.O. for provision of jobs and house sites to repatriates, who were leading miserable lives in the absence of employment and shelter.
The association leaders P. Venkatachalam, G. Babulu and E. Eswara Rao said that the repatriates were living in sheds at Burma Camp at Kancharapalem. Some of the sheds were demolished by vested interests over a period of time and shops and pucca houses were constructed. Though the victims lodged complaints individually and through the association, no action was being taken by the officials concerned to evict the unauthorised occupants.
