Convocation of FORE school

NEW DELHI: The 12th annual Convocation of the FORE School of Management was held at its campus on Saturday. The Union Minister of State for Programme Implementation, Oscar Fernandes, was the chief guest. As many as 147 students were awarded postgraduate diplomas in business management.

While the FORE president, Ashok Varma, addressed the students, the director, Seema Sanghi, presented the annual report on the activities undertaken during the academic year 2004-05.

Award for Delhi

NEW DELHI: Delhi has bagged the first position among small States in the areas of "Budget and Prosperity'', "Infrastructure'' and "Consumer Market'' in a survey conducted by India Today.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit received these awards from the Vice-President, Bhairon Singh Shekhwat, at the India Today Chief Ministers' Conclave here over the weekend.

Inspection of development work

NEW DELHI: The Lieutenant-Governor of Delhi, B.L.Joshi, on Saturday inspected the Mangolpuri and Nangloi areas to take stock of ongoing development work. He was accompanied by Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar, the Commissioner, Rakesh Mehta, and senior officials of the Delhi Government and the Delhi Development Authority.

Mr. Joshi also inspected the new building of the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital and issued instructions to the officials concerned to complete the pending work at the earliest.

Teej festival

NEW DELHI: A four-day Teej festival celebrating the advent of the monsoon was inaugurated by the India Tourism and Development Corporation (ITDC) chairman, M. S. Manchanda, at Baradari restaurant in Hotel Samrat here on Friday. The festival is a treat for connoisseurs with a large spread of delicacies from Old Delhi arranged for the occasion.

In addition, traditional puppet shows and swings have also been arranged for the visitors.

MCD rebuts allegations of corruption

NEW DELHI: In a strong rebuttal to the allegations of corruption levelled by a BJP Councillor over construction of a modern abattoir, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Saturday accused him of indulging in ``sabre-rattling'' without being aware of the ``facts'' to attract media attention.
