Mysore University releases sports calendar for 2005-2006

Mysore: Mysore University has released its sports calendar for 2005-06.

The Calendar: Cross-Country (men & women) — Aug. 17; Chess (m & w) — Aug. 18-20; Gymnastics (m & w), Aquatics (m & w), Body-building (m), Weightlifting (m) & Wrestling (m) — Aug. 22 to 24; Kho-kho (m & w) — Aug. 25-27; Ball-badminton (m & w), Kabaddi (m & w) — Sept. 1-3; Football (m) — Sept. 8-10; Basketball (m & w) — Sept. 12-14; Hockey (m & w) — Sept. 15-17; Table tennis (m & w) — Sept. 19-20; Badminton (m & w) — Sept. 21-22; Handball — Sept. 23-24; Tennis (m & w) — Sept. 29-30; Volleyball (m & w) — Oct. 3-5; Athletics (m & w) — Dec. 1-3.

Ekalavya Youth Club, HMT Colony, Jalahalli will stage the first State-level invitational floodlit kho-kho (men) and kabaddi (men and women) tournament at the HMT Sports Club ground in Bangalore from August 31 to September 4. The Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore, along with P. Nagaraj, Vice-President, KSFA, will conduct the Chief Justice Hombegowda Memorial inter-collegiate football tournament for colleges affiliated to the Mysore University from August 27 to 31.

Entries may be sent to P. Krishnaiah, Asst. Director, Physical Education, University of Mysore, Mysore - 570005 on or before August 18.

The second Rahul Sebastian Memorial State-level inter-collegiate basketball tournament for men will be conducted by the Bharath Sports Union from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 at Bharath courts in Malleswaram, Bangalore. Entries close on Aug. 20 with Mr. Manjesh, Ph: 98452 70715.
