Raj Kumar wins pool title

BANGALORE: D. Raj Kumar won the title in the Karnataka State Billiards Association's nine ball pool tournament, beating Prabhat 9-3 in the final at the KSBA Hall here on Saturday.

Earlier in the semifinals, Raj Kumar beat M. Prabhakar 7-6 and Prabhat defeated Anand 7-6. Both D. Raj Kumar and Prabhat will represent the State in the National pool championship to be held at Mumbai from September 1 to 4.

Other results (quarterfinals): D. Raj Kumar bt Kiran Chawla 6-5; M.Prabhakar bt Md.Arshad 6-3; V. Anand bt Sajjin Bopanna 6-2; Parbhat bt M.S. Sandeep 6-5.— Special Correspondent

Inter-district football

The Karnataka State Football Association will conduct an inter-district football tournament here from Monday.

The final is slated for August 16. Two matches will be played each day, with August 14 being a rest day. Eight teams have been divided into two groups and the top two from each group will clash in the semifinals.

The groupings: Group A: Bangalore, Mandya, Kolar, Davangere; Group B: Mysore, Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Kodugu. — Sports Reporter
